The challenge
Food waste is a serious issue. According to a research on food waste in NL, 589 mill. kg of food waste is generated per year. (Netherlands Nutrition Centre, 2019). There are garbage companies that do collect food waste separately, but it is not the same in every neighbourhood/city/village.
The solution
A system that makes it possible for every day people to turn their waste into energy. The CompoCard is used to open these collection bins (placed in neighbourhoods), the bins weigh the food waste and bonuses/discounts are given to these individuals. (in the form of lower electricity bills, discounts for sustainable products, etc. ) The food waste would be transported to the nearest food waste processors that turn it into green energy or biofuel.
