Happy Seniors

The challenge

Loneliness amongst the elderly is a serious problem in the Netherlands. With a greying population, it is inevitable that loneliness amongst elderly people will continue to rise. After looking into the current initiatives to solve this problem we found that a small but increasing group is left out namely those with a migration background. The initiatives and activities that are organized don't fit the needs and culture of this group, which results in this group being isolated. We want to create a start-up to give this group more awareness and get them more involved.

The solution

A new platform will be created that can be used as a tool to fight this loneliness and help our seniors with a migration background to boost their social lives. This platform will be called ‘Happy Seniors’. With the help of this new platform, older people will have a way to get in touch with other seniors who could potentially become their friends. Our start-up wants to connect people with common interests since older people are often not that good with things like social media or online platforms.
