The challenge
The problem we are addressing is the large number of people working in jobs they do not enjoy. A poll conducted by Gallup has brought to light that out of the world’s 1 billion full-time workers, only 15% of people are engaged at work. That means that 85% of people are unhappy in their jobs. This can be largely explained by the fact that people often do not know what they want to do after the finish high school or graduate from university, as they are presented to real-life situations where they have to apply their acquired knowledge which is often purely theoretical. Often times, people are not even sure of what they want to do as a "next step" in their lives as they don't fully know themselves, their skills, and what they are good at. Or, if they are aware of these things, they do not know how to put them in practice. As a result, they often end up working in a certain job they don't enjoy, because they need to be able to make enough money.
The solution
We found many statistics proving this dissatisfaction people experience in their jobs and we are aiming to change this by helping people discover more about themselves and what they are good at, as this might help them know better which career path they want to follow. This is supported by several research we found regarding high percentages of students taking gap years because they want to acquire "valuable skills or experiences which will benefit them later on". (bridge-u.com) Our objective is to initiate a sort of "bootcamp" where anyone can join, for a period of time, and learn more about their interests and where they can strengthen their skills or develop new ones. This differs from a traditional university or school because we focus on personalising the experience for each customer and teaching them how to apply their skills and knowledge in real-life situation, and not just from a theoretical standpoint. We aim to help them gain a better perspective of what they are good at and enjoy doing, in order to direct them towards a career path they will actually enjoy and thrive in.
